Power Tailgate with Hands-Free Access and Walk Away Close

Enjoy multiple hands-free options for tailgate operation:

• Smart Access fob button
• Driver’s door panel button
• Open with a button near the rear license plate; close with a button inside the tailgate.
• Kick your foot beneath the center of the rear bumper. If the Smart Access fob is detected within range, the tailgate will open.

The power tailgate on the MDX with Advance Package includes a Walk Away Close feature that allows users to just “grab and go” – i.e., retrieve needed items from the cargo area and simply walk away – letting Walk Away Close lower, latch and lock the tailgate. To activate the Walk Away Close feature:

1. Press the Walk Away Close button (located on left side of the interior cargo area).
2. Pick up desired items.
3. Walk out of 1-meter zone behind tailgate within 30 seconds of pressing the button.

The tailgate will then automatically close and lock (as will the doors if the Automatic Lock feature is turned on).
