Double Wishbone Front Suspension

The front double wishbone suspension is engineered to provide inspired handling performance and a responsive feel. Lateral stiffness is up 85 percent in front and 45 percent in the rear of the double-wishbone system, when compared to the previous TLX’s MacPherson strut design. Specially calibrated geometry ensures the optimal tire contact patch under all driving conditions – and in particular at-the-limit cornering – giving the TLX improved steering response, feel, precision and grip.

The front suspension has been optimized with compact and high-strength components, including lightweight forged aluminum lower wishbones. The upper wishbone is stamped steel, and the steering knuckle and lower damper fork are cast iron. The suspension geometry is specially tuned to yield communicative on-center steering feel and excellent response and stability. The system also minimizes steering disturbances, such as torque steer and road kickback through the steering wheel.
