Adaptive Damper System (ADS)

The Adaptive Damper System enables active and customizable control of damper response using information from the Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®) system's wheel sensors, yaw/G sensors, engine rpm and torque values, steering angle and damper-stroke sensors, to adjust damping response every 0.002 seconds to adapt to both varying road conditions and driver inputs.

The Adaptive Damper System is a part of the vehicle's Integrated Dynamics System. As directed by the driver’s choice of Comfort, Normal, Sport or Sport+, an electric actuator integrated into each damper governs hydraulic fluid movement inside the unit and progressively increases damper stiffness.

At the driver's preference, Comfort or Normal mode may be set as the default upon vehicle startup and is linked to each key fob.

In keeping with the high-performance mission of the TLX Type S, it features firmer, more aggressive damper settings in each driving mode than the TLX with Advance Package to provide greater feedback and driving excitement.
