The Adaptive Damper System is part of the Integrated Dynamics System (IDS) that also controls the Electric Power Steering (EPS), Drive-by-Wire™ throttle system, Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®) and traction control. Controlled by a microprocessor, the Adaptive Damper System can adjust every 0.002 seconds to adapt individual wheels to road surfaces.
The Dynamic Mode Dial allows the driver to choose between four driving modes that offer three different Adaptive Damper settings:
Snow Mode and Comfort Mode – Provides a damper setting that offers a civilized balance of ride and handling for everyday driving conditions.
Normal – This mode provides firmer damper settings that flatten and stabilize the vehicle body during rapid steering inputs and maneuvers.
Sport – Further increases suspension damping force for the most engaged driver who demands the most accurate vehicle response.
The Adaptive Damper System is tuned specifically for individual RDX models. The RDX with Advance Package offers a comfort-oriented range of adjustability. In the RDX A-Spec® Advance, the adjustment range favors sporting handling for more aggressive driving.
