Adaptive Damper System (ADS)

For MDX Type S, the dampers use exclusive valve rates to give the SUV a sportier feel with more feedback in all seven drive modes of the Integrated Dynamics System. The Adaptive Damper System enables active and customizable control of damper response using information from the Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®) system's wheel sensors, yaw/G sensors, engine rpm and torque values, steering angle and damper-stroke sensors, to adjust damping response every 0.002 seconds to adapt to both varying road conditions and driver inputs.

The Adaptive Damper System is a part of the vehicle's Integrated Dynamics System (IDS). As directed by the driver’s choice of IDS driving mode, an electric actuator integrated into each damper governs hydraulic fluid movement inside the unit and progressively increases damper stiffness.
