ZDX Type S defines Acura performance for the electrified era with 499 total horsepower. Electric power and response is instantaneous, with no shifting (or downshifting) required. With full torque available from zero RPM, the computer-controlled electric motors offer precise power modulation and eliminate the need for a transmission, clutch or torque converter.

ZDX Type S is powered by a rear-mounted permanent-magnet motor with a second permanent-magnet motor up front driving the front axle. The 102 kWh lithium-ion battery positioned beneath the passenger compartment is common with the ZDX A-Spec, and in the Type S, it offers 278 miles of EPA-estimated driving range.⁸⁶
