Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) and Forward Collision Warning

Alerts you to a potential collision with a detected object and reduces collision forces if one becomes unavoidable.

  • CMBS™39 uses a forward-facing camera to determine the distance and closing speed of objects detected directly ahead.
  • The system has three alert levels:
    • STAGE 1
In the first stage, if there is a risk of a collision with a vehicle detected ahead, the system will flash a “Brake” warning in the Multi-Information Display.
    • STAGE 2
If the risk of a collision has increased further and the driver still takes no action, the second stage will continue the visual and audible alerts, and apply light braking.
    • STAGE 3
If the driver still has taken no action and the system determines that a collision is now unavoidable, CMBS will continue the visual and audible alerts, plus it will apply strong braking.
  • The goal of CMBS is to alert you to apply the brakes.
  • CMBS is part of the standard AcuraWatch™ suite of advanced safety and driver assistive technologies.
